During the Spanish Civil War, the town was practically destroyed. The little that survived was considerably modified by the Reconstruction Plan executed by the General Management of Devastated Regions in 1940. Of its buildings of historic-artistic value, only ruins remained. On the other hand, other remnants of the Civil War can be found in very deteriorated bunkers, some of which remain incorporated in the plots of family houses.
